The unbearable lightness of boredom....

I guess its monday blues that makes me bored...don't feel like doing anything even though there's 1000 and 1 things to do... I presume others share the same thoughts too..... My friend complain that no one goes lunch with him ..the culture is that the staffs ta-bao a lot and seldom goes out to lunch. If I were him, I would go crazy too! Lunch time is the only time when we can go out for a breath and get out of the boring mechanical office suroundings. If not, we will be like mad ppl in mental hospital..

Its sucks if you are lunching alone with no one to talk to. I always admired ppl who can withstand the lonesome feeling of solitude. I definitely can't . I like lunching in a group....can talk cock sing song. It 's in my character...outgoing and groupy.

I am counting the time when I can knock off....5 more hours to go...wah lao!

Be With You

I've just seen the jap movie "be with you" ..It doesn't get any more romantic than this …even though i watch it alone. Its free anyway at cathay...they are giving free tics for their anniversary on monday.

The emotional silver screen treat was brought to life by no one else than Doi Nobuhiro, the skilled director of the blockbuster TV series Good Luck!! and Beautiful Life that became the most popular Japanese drama of the 90's.

The movie portrays the tragically deceased Mio. Her husband Takumi and his 6-year old son Yuji try to make the best out of this unfortunate circumstance living each day in silent remembrance of the beautiful days they cherished together with Mio..... as they desperately cling on to her final words, a promise that she will return on a rainy day. Exactly one year after Mio left them Yuji and his father found a strangely woman that resembles Mio walking out from the pouring rain …hahha..go watch this movie..It moved me to tears...the undying simple love that Takumi & son have for Mio....

..that leads me to thinking..is there still such undying and touching love story in our practical society now?? haiz....

Hype

Just visited hype gallery recently. I was attracted by the bold ad at the bus-stop near my apartment and it keep popping up in my mind. Its a unique gallery that allows artist, photographers , designers to exhibit their art stuffs for free. Personally I think its a great idea for local budding artist to put up their artpiece as majority don't have the money to run a exhibition of their creative works...arts is singapore is a very tough business..esp. when locals are not so arty farty to appreciate them. Even any tom dick or harry can exhibit and their work will be uploaded on the website www.hypegallery.com.sg

I manage to capture a few that I like ...meaningful yah..

My new Ipod!!!

To any fanatic music lovers, an ipod is a god given gift..I just bought a ipod mini at sim lim. After checking out a few stores, I got one for $312...4 gigs..is that cheap. Creative is at $299, 5 gigs.. But I cannot stand the ultra sensitive buttons...and I does not fit into my palm well too. Apple is still the best in terms of design and user interface! I 've got a green one and I am not gonna paste any stickers on it (ppl are doing it on their HP, PDAs, mp3 players...yucks!) The original authentic look is still the best!!

I have been busy loading my songs and cds into the little mean machine..Phew...hard work..I never knew I've got so many cds ! I counted about 100 cds..original ones..yah to some ppl, that's chicken feed...you haven't seen my pirate ones yet...heheeh. I 've got about close to 600 songs now... it would have been much more had I not been selective. I was hidden in my room all day just loading songs....no life... I don't care. Just wanna complete it asap cos' music is my life!

I should have studied music and be a producer hahah. Imagine walking on the streets with a few thousands songs at your hand...ipod....thats a fashion statement! Kudos to creative ..even though it came out with extra functions like radio preset...more storage space and miniture sizes...but it still lose out to apple when it comes to design and trends. Apple has come a long way in terms of creativity and being an innovative icon. I sure feel proud of possessing an apple product not that I am anti - local products...they have to work harder in terms of overall appeals and marketing.

gtg and load my songs now!

Try crawling out of your comfort zone

I been hearing a lot of stuffs and issues concerning the comfort zone. Why would you want to get out of our comfort zone when you are so used to your env. and culture ..I am referring to work actually. I got a close friend who have been in her job with the same company for 4 years. that's her 1st job after she graduates.

She was getting crappy pay even though she's doing 2-3 person's job. by the way, she was in the media line. She has been toying the idea of leaving for sometime but her busy schedule always kept her from looking out for jobs. She was also stuck in her comfort zone..the colleagues are pretty fine and she has grown used to the working culture and env. and most importantly, she had a lot of freedom. No need to report for work at 9, she can jolly well come in at 11 or after lunch as long as she gets her work done. I told her since the company wasn't doing to well and the boss sucks ( I can vouch for that since I've worked under him b4!) ....he even owes her pay!

It was only recently that she left the company after being offered a similar position in another more established company. Even though she gets about the same pay but she will certainly have more oversea exposure and plenty of new learnings to pick up. I felt happy for her. At least it will def. give her career a boost and a change of env. might do her good too.

I was also pretty stuck in my comfort zone in my previous job. I go out for long coffee breaks, early knockoffs on excuse of seeing clients..I am not guilty of that! I did worked my ass off and felt I should be entitled to these even though the boss was not knowing ...hhaha..My colleagues are great and funny. however, I chose to leave at the time when my work was getting better.I was being offered a higher pay job with a more established company. But the push factor was my previous boss..he sucks! don't wanna talk about it anymore...I am not a person to cling on the past..I am looking forward to better days ahead.

It was a hard decision for me as I was getting quite comfortable in my job but when I see people get stuck in a job for too long only to be retrenched or getting the sack ..I seen so many examples everyday in recruitment...I told myself..."ray..get out while you can cos' opportunity don't come easily....its now or never!" Be smart!

To the people out there, when you find yourself getting stuck in your comfort zone for too long. ..think about these....what do you want in life....is this the job that you will be stuck forever?
get a life!
