Words of wisdom by a sage...

"if there is a solution, what is the point in being anxious? And if there is no solution, what is the point in being anxious? Anxiety will only make your suffering worse.."

This is a quote from an Indian sage Shantideva which I find really interesting ....something which we would very much want to agree on but very hard to implement in our daily life.

We are what we think. All that we are arises With our thoughts. With our thoughts, We make our world. Since it is impossible to escape the result of our deeds, let us practice good works. Let us guard our thoughts that we do no evil, for as we sow so shall we reap. There are ways from light into darkness and from darkness into light. There are ways, also, from the gloom into deeper darkness, and from the dawn into brighter light. The wise man will use the light he has to receive more light. He will constantly advance in the knowledge of truth. Exhibit true superiority by virtuous conduct and the exercise of reason; meditate deeply on the vanity of earthly things, and understand the fickleness of life. Elevate the mind, and seek sincere faith with firm purpose; transgress not the rules of kingly conduct, and let your happiness depend, not upon external things, but upon your own mind. That nothing is static or fixed, that all is fleeting and impermanent, is the first mark of existence. It is the ordinary state of affairs. Everything is in process. Everything—every tree, every blade of grass, all the animals, insects, human beings, buildings, the animate and the inanimate—is always changing, moment to moment. We merely change from forms to forms in life and death.

~ Buddha (563 - 483 BC)
