Edging closer to ROD!!!!

Super Mike and Me...woof!

Back from reservist and this one is one of the more carefree in camp trainings I've attended. Getting nearer to ROD loh!!! 2 more high keys and I am out! For those who knows idiots about these army terms I shall explain as this will enlighten you esp.`those who are gfs as most NS guys would talk hours with their friends on this. At least you won't feel like an outcast and can impress those guys next time they have army talk again....LOL...

For every guys who have served 2.5 years in NS, they have a ORD i.e Operational Ready Date e.g. if you came out of army in 06061998 like me,.that is my ORD. From then onwards, we are deemed to be able to fight for our country using the combat skills we've learned during our NS. Most of us would go into studies after our ORD..but we will be constantly called up to go for refresher course and ICTs (In camp trainings) to brush up our combat skills so that we will not forget them.

These would be like 2/3 times per year depending how active your unit are. Those sibei siao on unit like mine ..who have won the hightly coveted 1998 Best combat unit Award...hahha...I have to boost a bit as this award usually goes to the bloody commando unit every year but we managed to snatch it right under their nose cos they mess up their '98 Atec i.e. yearly assessment on army combat performance. Serve them right!!! They sibei cocky loh ...think their red beret very hao lian. Knns...go eat shit lah! LOL....

In the past for ORD ppl like me, we have to go thru 13 years of reservist before our unit stand down. i.e. become inactive. Recently, the gahmen announced that it will be shortened to 10 years...hooray..that the only good thing the army does in recent years..... For reservist, we have to serve 7 high keys and 7 low keys within 10 years...i.e high = 2/3 weeks of ICT including field camps and major exercises...very siong one! Low = few days of courses or in camp hoilday...doing nothing but play cards and booze..muhahah..

So far I have attended 5 high keys and 2 low ones...so that means I 'll still have 2 more high to go b4 I ROD...Ready Operation Date! Its like retirement for me loh...I'll be only activated only when real war starts..knn..how can that happen...muahhahaha...

My recent one is the 5th and I've got a service award for that...felt some pride lah...after all, NS to me is all about male bonding....going thru mud, sweat, bloood and lots of card playing...hhaa..

All my men have 7 high keys already cos they din defer like me for studies..haiz..next in camp might not see them again...they are a really noisy bunch ...imagine playing cards and boozing in their underwear till 3 am every night...shout here and there like their house..walking naked ...they brought out the worst in males...but that's the way they are lah...ouside @ work..they are more tamed ...wat to do...only in reservist we can release our pressure and have fun and be merry in our true self. Somehow I like them the way as hokkien peng are lidat wat....noisy but true.

We have combat shoots in this 1 week ICT...but the bloody rain kept stalling us ..knnn else I've get the $200 for marksman. It was pouring ...drizzling...then pouring again...knn...imagine shooting in the rain...cold...soggy...carry the bloody 3kg rifle walking up and down the muddy slope...its a good thing that no accidents happen cos we are using live rounds...Everyone kiasi...very careful ..hahahah. but its fun than watching war movies...when the hell ppl get to fire live rounds???only in NS...see we guys are so fortunate and we get paid to do it! Too bad we can't do the night shoot due to the rain.

Gotten some knocks and cuts here and there but its pretty normal...not as nimble and strong as b4 ..haiz...time flies..soon to be ROD next year. Heard my next high key is 2 weeks in Sept @Pulau Tekong!!!Walan ehhh...bloody hell...how to book out??? Book out can do wat??Take bum boat back to Singapore ??KNNCCB...might as well go jetty to fish and bbq!muhahahaaa

Looking forward to ROD before 32!! Hippee!!!
